• FAQ – Attendees

    Q) What is a Coral Frag Show?

A coral frag show is an event or gathering where reefing enthusiasts and hobbyists come together to buy, sell and/or trade coral frags. Frags are typically small portions (fragments) of coral which have been cut off a larger coral colony which are genetically identical to the parent colony. These fragments are then grown and propagated in captivity by hobbyists or businesses in their own tanks, often producing hardier, colourful and/or more resilient stock which makes them not only sustainable but also more desirable for hobbyists to collect.

Frag show events typically offer a wide variety of coral species and colours for sale in a market-style setting. Often there are other engaging activities such as guest speakers, product demonstrations and/or workshops. There is also a focus on Reefing related hardware, merchandise and artwork such as paintings, sculpture, photography and jewellery. Frag Shows are a wonderful opportunity to share unique corals amongst other members the reefing community, allowing attendees to expand their coral collections and also network with other coral reefing enthusiasts.
